The Story Behind Vastu Purusha

According to Vedic lore, Vastu Purusha was a powerful cosmic being born from the sweat of Lord Shiva during a great battle. He grew uncontrollably, disturbing the balance of the universe, until the gods led by Lord Brahma pinned him down to the earth.

Each deity took position on a part of his body, forming the Vastu Purusha Mandala. In return, he was blessed to reside in every structure, influencing its energy and harmony.

His head rests in the northeast, feet in the southwest, and his body spans the entire space — guiding energy flow. When aligned with him, spaces feel balanced; when not, imbalance can arise.

How Vastu Works in the
Southern Hemisphere
